Ullevi Tennis Club's ITF Tournament

Local success and international glory

The breadth and level of the competition was already noticeable in the semifinals where four Gothenburg players battled for the final spots – three of them from Ullevi. The audience witnessed juniors combining courage, technique, and tactical maturity with genuine joy of playing. The club is proud of how our players represented us both on and off the court.

In the boys' singles, we had an all-Swedish final between two Ullevi players. Love Nyqvist dominated in the final and won over clubmate Oliver Wei Liu with 6–2, 6–1. The fact that two of the club's own reached all the way to the final shows the strength of our training environment and how well our players stand against an international junior field. In the boys' doubles, Love Nyqvist along with Adam Svärdfeldt reached the final, but there they fell after a tight match against the Norwegian pair Christensen‑Scheel/Solheim.

On the girls' side, the international guests showed their class. Norwegian Margareth Keref won the girls' singles in straight sets and impressed with her offensive game and stable serve. In the girls' doubles, siblings Marina and Maria Krezse (Germany) delivered a strong performance that led them to victory.

Even though no Ullevi players were in the final here, the atmosphere was at its peak as our girls took on high-class opponents and gained valuable experience.

The atmosphere and organization

The overall experience of this year's ITF competition exceeded expectations. All matches were played on time, and our courts, referees, and officials received praise from players and leaders from the visiting nations. The audience consisted of members, families, juniors, and tennis-loving Gothenburgers who filled the stands and contributed to an atmosphere that left everyone wanting more.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our leaders, coaches, officials, and volunteers who made this possible.

Their commitment and professionalism are the foundation for the competition being carried out in the best possible way. Thanks also to the Swedish Tennis Association and our partners who provided support and resources, as well as to our referees and match supervisors who kept the match pace high.

Summary and looking ahead

The ITF week at Ullevi has reminded us of why we love this sport. The joy of playing, fighting spirit, and respect between players were consistent themes. We have seen our own talents develop and flourish, while international players have raised the level and inspired our members.

We are already looking forward to next year's ITF tournament and to continue building on the training culture that has given us these successes. Until then, we continue to train hard, socialize, and develop together – and we hope that everyone who followed the tournament feels the same pride and inspiration that we do.

See you on the courts!
