ULLEVI TENNIS SCHOOL – A PLACE TO GROW IN
Our tennis school is aimed at children and young people aged 5–18 years and is often the natural step into both tennis and the community of the club. Here we build a strong foundation – not only technically, but also physically, mentally, and socially.
We offer training 1–3 times a week, 60 minutes per session, in groups tailored to age and level. Our goal is for each player to develop at their own pace – but always in a context where joy, activity, and team spirit are at the center.
Age and color levels in the tennis school
We follow a clear color structure based on international guidelines for children and youth tennis:
Mini Tennis (5–6 years) – play, movement, and ball contact in a playful way.
Red level (approx. 6–8 years) – play on a smaller court with a soft ball, focus on motor skills and basic shots.
Orange level (approx. 8–10 years) – larger court, faster gameplay, introduction to simpler tactics.
Green level (approx. 10–12 years) – when the player begins to approach full-sized court, more structure in training.
Yellow level (approx. 12 years and up) – training on a full court with harder balls, more advanced gameplay and tactics.

Our philosophy - a holistic view of development
Ullevi Tennis Club's coaching team has many years of experience in training children and young people, and our training model is based on a clear philosophy – shaped by research, practice, and a passion for sports.
We see the player's development as a four-part pyramid:
Mental foundation: We start by building values, a positive training attitude, respect for others, and a culture of community and personal responsibility.
Physical foundation: The children become versatile athletes – we encourage joy in movement, motor skills training, and engaging in several sports simultaneously.
Tennis athlete: Then we develop technical and tactical skills on the court – with game understanding and variety.
Specialist: Only in their teenage years do we focus on details, strategy, and competition training – for those who want to pursue it further.
This is how we train – with movement, joy, and play in focus
Game-based training: The training is based on the player moving, hitting the ball, and thinking like a tennis player – right from the start.
High activity level: We avoid queues and keep the pace high – players should be more active than the coaches.
Group training: We prioritize larger groups where children meet many friends, encounter different playing styles, and learn to cooperate.
Competitive aspect: We compete a lot – but with the right mindset. We do not focus on who wins, but on creating excitement, challenge, and joy.
Challenge level: The training should feel just difficult enough – not too easy, not impossible. It should be exciting, developmental, and leave a desire for more.
Player's responsibility: We also train to arrive on time, warm up, pick up balls, and take responsibility for their training.
From play to match play – long-term development
We encourage children under the age of 10 to be active in many sports and to develop a broad movement foundation. When the player is ready, we train to train in the right way – and then to compete. For those who aim to compete a lot, we guide them into matches both in a club environment and outside.
But the goal is not always elite – the goal is to create a lifelong relationship with sports and tennis. Our philosophy is that joy, community, and good training habits are what ultimately build both individuals and players.
